Waste Transport

Transport of hazardous non-hazardous waste

We recover and transport waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, in meticulous observance of the Highway Code (D.Lgs. n°285/1992 and successive modifications and additions) and environmental regulations (D.Lgs. 152/2006 “T.U.A” and related regulations).

We use the most technically appropriate vehicles, depending on the origin and type of waste to be transported, along with the documentation required by law, and equipped with the proper safety signals.

Transport of hazardous waste subject to ADR regulations

We manage the transport of waste subject to international regulations on road transport safety for hazardous materials (commonly known as ADR regulations), offering complete support in the fulfillment of all requirements:

  • ADR Classification of hazardous waste;
  • Use of technically appropriate vehicles and drivers with the proper professional certification;

  • Use of roll-off containers tested for ADR transport and accompanied by the required stamp, affixed by the relevant M.C.T.C. Office, certifying the test was passed;
  • The correct panels and labels affixed on the vehicles, as required by ADR; in the case of package transport, the use of UN-approved packaging, correctly packed and labeled;
  • Completion of all the accompanying technical documentation, as required by law.

Recovery and disposal of waste

Collection

Our plants are equipped with collection areas that are suited and perfectly outfitted to receive waste from micro-collection (filters, oil, paint sludge, brake pads, cans, rags, spent batteries, etc.) destined – following the appropriate treatment, with or without recycling – for authorized end plants.

Preliminary Treatments

Our plants are authorized for the preliminary treatment of solid and liquid waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous. These operations – such as sorting, grouping, compacting, drying, shredding, conditioning, separating, packaging, decanting, packing, etc. – are done in order to prepare waste for subsequent recycling, or to improve the disposal stage. We have all the appropriate equipment for this kind of activity, such as presses, shredders, trolleys, loaders with special applications, etc

Chemical-physical treatment

We are equipped with plants with advanced technology for the inertization and stabilization treatment of waste and contaminated materials. This treatment is carried out in order to immobilize-solidify the polluting substances in waste to stop them from being dispersed into the environment. The process occurs through two-part fixation – chemical and structural – within an inert matrix, created with binding agents mostly made up of inorganic substances like lime, cement, silicates, etc. The material output from the stabilization process is more resistant to the leaching action of the percolating waters in landfills, due to both its reduced surface exposed to these waters, and to the chemical and physical fixation of the contaminants present.

Navarra’s technologically complex plant, specifically, is able to carry out the following waste stabilization treatments:

  • Neutral-based cementation processes;
  • Processes based on the use of lime as the main binding agent.
These treatments are accompanied by the concurrent mixing of different types of waste, in compliance with the criteria and quality protocols authorized by art. 187 of D.Lgs. 152/06 and by its proxies recognized by the competent authority.

Mixing in derogation from art. 187 of D.Lgs. 152/06

Both platforms managed by the group perform chemical-physical treatments, and are authorized for treatment with an exception for mixing, in compliance with safety protocols and process control, in compliance with the provisions of article 187, in the Legislative Decree n°152/06.

This type of treatment can be carried out on types of waste in compatible liquid states – according to appropriate mixing groups identified by the same Resolution – to obtain output materials with the right characteristics for subsequent transfer to purification plants or, where necessary, thermal destruction plants.

Environmental Reclamation

Reclamation of contaminated sites

We carry out environmental reclamation and restoration of abandoned industrial areas and, more generally, of sites contaminated by waste (due to hazardous substance spills, fires, etc.) provided for in title V of Part Four of the D.Lgs. n°152/2006.

We provide comprehensive assistance in completing the technical documentation required by law, to present to the appropriate control body prior to the carrying out the reclamation.

Storage of liquid and solid waste

We are equipped to store liquid and solid waste, hazardous and non-hazardous. Our platforms are authorized for the temporary storage of waste over 8,000 t for the Navarra SpA platform and over 5,000 t for tecno.gea. Storage may be in closed and confined environments (for loose material) or in monitored and roofed environments for packaged waste. The platform is also equipped to store small quantities of liquid and solid waste in confined and specific areas. The Navarra platform also offers plant equipment for the deposit (and preliminary processing) of liquid waste in tanks.

Environmental Consulting and Waste Brokerage (Category 8)

The Group, as part of its primary business of directly managing waste treatment plants, also provides technical support to its customers for administrative requirements and regulatory compliance. To offer a complete service, we can also support the customer in strategically choosing the best solutions for waste management and environmental remediation.

Our waste brokerage activities include yet another service, thanks to our certification as Trade and Waste Brokerage without detention– category 8 – Class B in the Italian Register of Environmental Operators. For decades, the Group has worked with the most important national operators and plants. It has access to several different Italian plants, making it possible for the customer to deliver the waste it produces to an appropriate plant, whether for waste recovery or disposal.
